The »bidding war« ended at USD 21,250.00 (€ 15,936.70), 42% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Wen Peng achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Ode to the Pavilion of the Inebriated Old Man in cursive script in October 2021 with an auction result of HKD 5,015,000.00 (€ 557,849.29).

Die Arbeit Calligraphy In Cursive Script von Wen Peng wurde im März 2012 in der Auktion Fine Classical Chinese Paintings bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 21.250,00 (€ 15.936,70) und damit 42% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Wen Peng erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Ode to the Pavilion of the Inebriated Old Man in cursive script im Oktober 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 5.015.000,00 (€ 557.849,29).
