This artwork by Wen Ding achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in September 2012. In the Fine Classical Chinese Paintings auction, the work Plum Blossom Studio sold for USD 46,875.00 (€ 36,461.57) - well above the upper estimate of USD 25,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Wen Ding; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Journey To The Red Cliff sold at auction in October 2018 with the realized price of HKD 550,000.00 (€ 61,930.82).
