Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Playing The Qin by Wen Ding was sold in the Fine Classical Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy auction at Christies in Hong Kong in May 2006. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 60,000.00 (€ 6,026.65), 20% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Wen Ding achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Journey To The Red Cliff in October 2018 with an auction result of HKD 550,000.00 (€ 61,930.82).
