Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Fragrant Thornbush Near Streamhead And Butterflies On The Bank by Wei Ligang was auctioned at Sothebys in Hong Kong in April 2016, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of HKD 500,000.00 – 700,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for HKD 300,000.00 (€ 33,799.49). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Wei Ligang - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Shield Array, which sold at auction in April 2016 for HKD 625,000.00 (€ 70,415.61).
