Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Mao Wave Dance by Wang Ziwei was auctioned at Sothebys in Hong Kong in October 2014, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of HKD 150,000.00 – 250,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for HKD 125,000.00 (€ 12,869.11). Admittedly, works by Wang Ziwei have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Great Wave: Greetings, Comrades in October 2007 with an auction result of HKD 943,500.00 (€ 84,124.62).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Mao Wave Dance von Wang Ziwei im Oktober 2014 bei Sothebys in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 150.000,00 – 250.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für HKD 125.000,00 (€ 12.869,11) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Wang Ziwei auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Great Wave: Greetings, Comrades im Oktober 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 943.500,00 (€ 84.124,62).
