This artwork by Wang Ziwei achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in Hong Kong in October 2007. In the Contemporary Chinese Art (Part II) auction, the work The Great Wave: Greetings, Comrades sold for HKD 943,500.00 (€ 84,124.62) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 500,000.00. This high result makes The Great Wave: Greetings, Comrades the most expensive artwork by Wang Ziwei that we have observed at auctions so far.
