Upper estimate price exceeded by 88 %.
This artwork by Wang Shimin achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Hong Kong in November 2007. In the Fine Chinese Classical Paintings & Calligraphy auction, the work Calligraphy in Standard Script sold for HKD 75,000.00 (€ 6,556.37) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 40,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Wang Shimin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Reading in the Autumn Mountain in May 2012 with an auction result of HKD 10,180,000.00 (€ 1,060,485.28).
