Four collector's seals of Di Xuegeng (1820-1899)
NOTE:
Di Xuegeng, who styled himself as Mannong and Shuzi, a native of Liyang, Jiangsu, was the father of Di Baoxian (1873-1941), the well-known painter, calligrapher, and politician in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic era. He was keen on collecting calligraphy and painting and once worked as a county magistrate in Jiangxi.

Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Wang Shihong achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in December 2021. In the Exquisite Eye: Chinese Paintings Online including the Collection of Sun Ah Book Center auction, the work Five-character Calligraphic Couplet in Running Script sold for HKD 43,750.00 (€ 4,955.60) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 20,000.00. Admittedly, works by Wang Shihong have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Poems In Running Script in March 2014 with an auction result of USD 50,000.00 (€ 36,292.37).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Wang Shihong erzielte im Dezember 2021 bei Christies einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Exquisite Eye: Chinese Paintings Online including the Collection of Sun Ah Book Center wurde die Arbeit Five-character Calligraphic Couplet in Running Script für HKD 43.750,00 (€ 4.955,60) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 20.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Wang Shihong auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Poems In Running Script im März 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 50.000,00 (€ 36.292,37).
