Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Untitled, 2003 by Wang Chuan was auctioned at Bonhams in December last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,912.50 (€ 1,787.72). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Wang Chuan achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Beliefs in May 2016 with an auction result of HKD 475,000.00 (€ 54,901.21).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Untitled, 2003 von Wang Chuan im Dezember letzten Jahres bei Bonhams versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 1.912,50 (€ 1.787,72) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Wang Chuan erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Beliefs im Mai 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 475.000,00 (€ 54.901,21).
