This artwork by Wang Chong achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in March 2014. In the Fine Classical Chinese Paintings & Calligraphy auction, the work Poems In Cursive Script sold for USD 125,000.00 (€ 90,730.93) - well above the upper estimate of USD 55,000.00. Admittedly, works by Wang Chong have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Calligraphy In Regular Script in April this year with an auction result of HKD 600,000.00 (€ 612,717.39).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Wang Chong erzielte im März 2014 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Fine Classical Chinese Paintings & Calligraphy wurde die Arbeit Poems In Cursive Script für USD 125.000,00 (€ 90.730,93) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 55.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Wang Chong auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Calligraphy In Regular Script im April diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 600.000,00 (€ 612.717,39).
