Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Conversation At The Opera by Walter Granville-Smith was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in December 2014, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 500.00 (€ 413.19). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Walter Granville-Smith achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work By The Seashore in October 2015 with an auction result of USD 6,875.00 (€ 6,226.23).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Conversation At The Opera von Walter Granville-Smith im Dezember 2014 bei Christies in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 500,00 (€ 413,19) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Walter Granville-Smith erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit By The Seashore im Oktober 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 6.875,00 (€ 6.226,23).
