In November 2018 Sothebys in London held the auction A Living Legacy: Irish Art from the Collection of Brian P. Burns, which included the work Seated Boy And Sea by Walter Frederick Osborne. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 137,500.00 (€ 155,095.82), 72% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Walter Frederick Osborne have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Dorothy And Irene Falkiner in May 2008 with an auction result of GBP 580,500.00 (€ 738,421.37).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 72 % übertroffen
Im November 2018 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion A Living Legacy: Irish Art from the Collection of Brian P. Burns durch, in der auch die Arbeit Seated Boy And Sea von Walter Frederick Osborne zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 137.500,00 (€ 155.095,82) und damit 72% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Walter Frederick Osborne auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Dorothy And Irene Falkiner im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 580.500,00 (€ 738.421,37).
