Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2008 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture, which included the work Spring by Walter Elmer Schofield. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 43,750.00 (€ 31,070.24) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Walter Elmer Schofield - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Nearing Spring, which sold at auction in May 2008 for USD 181,000.00 (€ 116,323.91).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im September 2008 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit Spring von Walter Elmer Schofield zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 43.750,00 (€ 31.070,24) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Walter Elmer Schofield mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Nearing Spring beobachtet, die im Mai 2008 für USD 181.000,00 (€ 116.323,91) versteigert wurde.
