Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Unknown by William Essex was sold in the Portrait Miniatures, Objects of Vertu, Icons, Russian and auction at Christies in London in December 2003. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 150.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 152.75 (€ 216.35). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Essex achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Sir Walter Scott (1771-1832), In Brown Coat And Waistcoat, White Shirt And Black Cravat, Forward Combed Grey Hair in July 2005 with an auction result of GBP 6,600.00 (€ 9,573.24).
