It achieved a price of GBP 5,377.50 (€ 7,727.76), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 54%. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by William Essex; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Sir Walter Scott (1771-1832), In Brown Coat And Waistcoat, White Shirt And Black Cravat, Forward Combed Grey Hair sold at auction in July 2005 with the realized price of GBP 6,600.00 (€ 9,573.24).
