Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Arabs at the entrance to a walled city by Vittorio Rappini was auctioned at Christies in London in August 2012. The price achieved of GBP 812.50 (€ 1,024.77) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 700.00 – 1,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Vittorio Rappini - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Playing a tune in a harem; The carpet seller; and a bustling street, Cairo, which sold at auction in October 2008 for GBP 2,750.00 (€ 3,505.26).
