The »bidding war« ended at EUR 100,000.00 67% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Victor Hugo have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work La Planète (Saturne) in February 2014 with an auction result of GBP 434,500.00 (€ 527,153.05).

Die Arbeit A Bridge In Spain, Also Called The Moorish Bridge von Victor Hugo wurde im Juni 2020 in der Auktion Oeuvres sur Papier bei Sothebys in Paris versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 100.000,00 und damit 67% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Victor Hugo auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit La Planète (Saturne) im Februar 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 434.500,00 (€ 527.153,05).
