This artwork by Vassyl Khmeluk achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in February 2008. In the Impressionist and Modern Art including Russian and Latin American Art auction, the work Portrait Of A Young Girl sold for USD 20,000.00 (€ 13,169.16) - well above the upper estimate of USD 8,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Vassyl Khmeluk; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Portrait Of A Young Girl sold at auction in December 2009 with the realized price of GBP 22,500.00 (€ 25,380.79).
