This artwork by Vasilii Kotarbinsky achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in November 2007. In the Russian Icons and Pictures Including works by Non-Conformist Artists auction, the work Dignitaries boarding a gondola on a Venetian backwater sold for GBP 13,700.00 (€ 19,183.54) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 7,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Vasilii Kotarbinsky achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Roman Orgy in November 2012 with an auction result of GBP 825,250.00 (€ 1,016,624.27).
