In March 2000 Christies in London held the auction British and Victorian Pictures, which included the work Portrait of a boy, quarter-length, in a brown waistcoat and white lace collar by Valentine Cameron Prinsep. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 5,750.00 (€ 9,562.51), 64% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Valentine Cameron Prinsep achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Venetian Gaming-House In The Sixteenth Century in November 2004 with an auction result of GBP 111,650.00 (€ 160,607.92).

Im März 2000 führte Christies in London die Auktion British and Victorian Pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of a boy, quarter-length, in a brown waistcoat and white lace collar von Valentine Cameron Prinsep zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 5.750,00 (€ 9.562,51) und damit 64% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Valentine Cameron Prinsep erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A Venetian Gaming-House In The Sixteenth Century im November 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 111.650,00 (€ 160.607,92).
