Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Valentine Cameron Prinsep could be acquired at Christies in London in June 2004 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Victorian Pictures including The John H. Schaeffer auction, the work The First Awakening of Eve changed hands for GBP 35,850.00 (€ 53,355.54) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 40,000.00 – 60,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Valentine Cameron Prinsep - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A Venetian Gaming-House In The Sixteenth Century, which sold at auction in November 2004 for GBP 111,650.00 (€ 160,607.92).
