Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Unknown by Utagawa Toyokuni II was sold in the Japanese Art and Design auction at Christies in London in July 2005. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 800.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 900.00 (€ 1,305.44). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Utagawa Toyokuni II achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Ichikawa Danjuro in a pleasure quarter scene in December 2021 with an auction result of GBP 21,420.00 (€ 25,549.57).
