In June 2017 Christies in London held the auction From Artist to Woodblock: Japanese Prints Online, which included the work Night Rain at Oyama by Utagawa Toyokuni II. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,625.00 (€ 1,850.57), 35% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Utagawa Toyokuni II achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Ichikawa Danjuro in a pleasure quarter scene in December 2021 with an auction result of GBP 21,420.00 (€ 25,549.57).

Im Juni 2017 führte Christies in London die Auktion From Artist to Woodblock: Japanese Prints Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit Night Rain at Oyama von Utagawa Toyokuni II zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.625,00 (€ 1.850,57) und damit 35% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Utagawa Toyokuni II erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Ichikawa Danjuro in a pleasure quarter scene im Dezember 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 21.420,00 (€ 25.549,57).
