Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Three woodblock prints by Utagawa Toyokuni II was sold in the Japanese and Korean Art auction at Bonhams in New York in March last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 1,200.00 – 1,800.00, the actual price achieved of USD 1,275.00 (€ 1,149.37) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Utagawa Toyokuni II achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Ichikawa Danjuro in a pleasure quarter scene in December 2021 with an auction result of GBP 21,420.00 (€ 25,549.57).
