This artwork by Ryuzaburo Umehara achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in May 2000. In the Japanese Modern and Contemporary Paintings auction, the work Rafu zu (Nude) sold for USD 76,375.00 (€ 81,877.14) - well above the upper estimate of USD 30,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ryuzaburo Umehara - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Peony, which sold at auction in July 2020 for HKD 2,750,000.00 (€ 301,299.47).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Ryuzaburo Umehara erzielte im Mai 2000 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Japanese Modern and Contemporary Paintings wurde die Arbeit Rafu zu (Nude) für USD 76.375,00 (€ 81.877,14) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 30.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Ryuzaburo Umehara mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Peony beobachtet, die im Juli 2020 für HKD 2.750.000,00 (€ 301.299,47) versteigert wurde.
