This price was achieved in the auction Japanese and Korean Art Including the Collection of David and Nayda Utterberg at Christies in New York and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of USD 20,000.00 many times over. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Totoya Hokkei - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Tiger Looking At The Moon, which sold at auction in September 2021 for USD 350,000.00 (€ 302,323.57).
