This artwork by Totoya Hokkei achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in New York in March last year. In the Japanese and Korean Art auction, the work Edo period (1615-1868), circa 1830s sold for USD 4,462.50 (€ 4,022.81) - well above the upper estimate of USD 2,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Totoya Hokkei achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Tiger Looking At The Moon in September 2021 with an auction result of USD 350,000.00 (€ 302,323.57).
