This artwork by Totoya Hokkei achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in March last year. In the Japanese and Korean Art Including the Collection of David and Nayda Utterberg auction, the work Kyoshi (Jiang Shi) sold for USD 13,860.00 (€ 12,494.37) - well above the upper estimate of USD 7,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Totoya Hokkei achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Tiger Looking At The Moon in September 2021 with an auction result of USD 350,000.00 (€ 302,323.57).
