Auction result misses estimated price range
In September 2018 a collector was able to acquire the work Untitled (Atlanta) by Tony Smith for USD 68,750.00 (€ 59,155.05). This price was achieved in the auction Post-War to Present at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 70,000.00 – 100,000.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by Tony Smith have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work For J.C. in May 2011 with an auction result of USD 530,500.00 (€ 369,017.81).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im September 2018 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Untitled (Atlanta) von Tony Smith für USD 68.750,00 (€ 59.155,05) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Post-War to Present bei Christies in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 70.000,00 – 100.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Tony Smith auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit For J.C. im Mai 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 530.500,00 (€ 369.017,81).
