The work John Cage, Jasper Johns, and Merce Cunningham by Timothy Greenfield-Sanders was sold in the The Artist’s Eye: The Collection of Tom Levine auction at Sothebys in New York in May last year. The »bidding war« ended at USD 1,638 (€ 1,343), 64% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Timothy Greenfield-Sanders achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work in November 2007 with an auction result of USD 46,000 (€ 31,318).

Die Arbeit John Cage, Jasper Johns, and Merce Cunningham von Timothy Greenfield-Sanders wurde im Mai letzten Jahres in der Auktion The Artist’s Eye: The Collection of Tom Levine bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 1.638 (€ 1.343) und damit 64% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Timothy Greenfield-Sanders erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit im November 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 46.000 (€ 31.318).
