This work of art by Tim Thompson could be acquired at Christies in London in November 2001 for an unexpectedly low price. In the MARITIME AND NAVAL BATTLES auction, the work A Man-O'War Reducing Sail As The Squall Approaches changed hands for GBP 470.00 (€ 747.92) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 500.00 – 700.00. Admittedly, works by Tim Thompson have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work J-class yachts racing in light airs off the Brenton lightship in February 2004 with an auction result of USD 7,767.50 (€ 6,243.47).
