Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Shipping in a calm by Tim Thompson was auctioned at Bonhams in London in October this year. The price achieved of GBP 2,560.00 (€ 2,939.59) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Tim Thompson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work J-class yachts racing in light airs off the Brenton lightship, which sold at auction in February 2004 for USD 7,767.50 (€ 6,243.47).
