Auction result misses estimated price range
In July 2004 a collector was able to acquire the work British and American schooners off St. Catherines Point, Isle of Wight by Tim Thompson for USD 3,585.00 (€ 2,979.55). This price was achieved in the auction Maritime at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Tim Thompson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work J-class yachts racing in light airs off the Brenton lightship, which sold at auction in February 2004 for USD 7,767.50 (€ 6,243.47).

Im Juli 2004 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit British and American schooners off St. Catherines Point, Isle of Wight von Tim Thompson für USD 3.585,00 (€ 2.979,55) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Maritime bei Christies in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Tim Thompson mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit J-class yachts racing in light airs off the Brenton lightship beobachtet, die im Februar 2004 für USD 7.767,50 (€ 6.243,47) versteigert wurde.
