Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2017 Sothebys in London held the auction Two Great Scottish Collections: Property from the Forbeses of Pitsligo and the Marquesses of Lothian, which included the work Two Men Smoking A Pipe by Thomas Worlidge. The price achieved of GBP 938.00 (€ 1,099.24) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Worlidge achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Portrait Of A Gentleman Dressed In Furs in July 2014 with an auction result of GBP 11,875.00 (€ 14,978.11).

Im März 2017 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Two Great Scottish Collections: Property from the Forbeses of Pitsligo and the Marquesses of Lothian durch, in der auch die Arbeit Two Men Smoking A Pipe von Thomas Worlidge zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 938,00 (€ 1.099,24) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 800,00 – 1.200,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Thomas Worlidge erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A Portrait Of A Gentleman Dressed In Furs im Juli 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 11.875,00 (€ 14.978,11).
