Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A bound volume of fifty-two portrait caricatures by Thomas Patch was sold in the A Fine Line: Master Works on Paper from Five Centuries auction at Sothebys in London in July 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 31,500.00 (€ 36,940.28) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Thomas Patch have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A View Of The River Arno With The Ponte Alle Grazie, Florence in January 2008 with an auction result of USD 433,000.00 (€ 291,759.32).
