Auction result misses estimated price range
In April 2010 a collector was able to acquire the work Selected Landscapes by Thomas Joshua Cooper for USD 3,438.00 (€ 2,584.57). This price was achieved in the auction Photographs at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Thomas Joshua Cooper - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Unexpected Nightfall- The Mid North Atlantic Ocean, Porto Moniz, The Island of Madeira (Near the North-most point of the Island), Portugal, which sold at auction in June 2008 for GBP 8,125.00 (€ 10,270.27).
