In June 2000 Christies in London held the auction British and Victorian Pictures, which included the work Portrait of a young girl, half-length, in a white dress and bonnet, with a butterfly; and Portrait of a young boy, half-length, in a red coat and waistcoat by Thomas Hickey. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 6,815.00 (€ 10,802.61), 36% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Thomas Hickey - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait of George, 1st Earl Macartney, half length, wearing the Order of the Bath, which sold at auction in November 2019 for GBP 23,750.00 (€ 27,888.31).

Im Juni 2000 führte Christies in London die Auktion British and Victorian Pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of a young girl, half-length, in a white dress and bonnet, with a butterfly; and Portrait of a young boy, half-length, in a red coat and waistcoat von Thomas Hickey zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 6.815,00 (€ 10.802,61) und damit 36% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Thomas Hickey mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Portrait of George, 1st Earl Macartney, half length, wearing the Order of the Bath beobachtet, die im November 2019 für GBP 23.750,00 (€ 27.888,31) versteigert wurde.
