In May 2008 Sothebys in London held the auction The Irish Sale, which included the work A Double Portrait Of Arthur Wolfe, 1St Viscount Kilwarden And His Wife Anne by Thomas Hickey. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 17,300.00 (€ 22,006.36), 44% above the upper estimate. Other works by Thomas Hickey have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of GBP 23,750.00 (€ 27,888.31) in November 2019 for the work Portrait of George, 1st Earl Macartney, half length, wearing the Order of the Bath.
