Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of a young boy, half-length, in a red coat and white collar; and Portrait of a young girl, half-length, in a white dress, wearing a white cap with flowers and light pink ribbons by Thomas Hickey was sold in the The Irish Sale auction at Christies in London in May 2007. The price achieved of GBP 3,600.00 (€ 5,297.64) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Admittedly, works by Thomas Hickey have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of George, 1st Earl Macartney, half length, wearing the Order of the Bath in November 2019 with an auction result of GBP 23,750.00 (€ 27,888.31).
