Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A Double Portrait Of Arthur Wolfe, 1St Viscount Kilwarden And His Wife Anne by Thomas Hickey was auctioned at Sothebys in London in October 2008. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 8,125.00 (€ 10,356.46) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Thomas Hickey - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait of George, 1st Earl Macartney, half length, wearing the Order of the Bath, which sold at auction in November 2019 for GBP 23,750.00 (€ 27,888.31).
