Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A young lady, in a white dress with a transparent stole over her shoulders with a brooch clasp, dark curling hair; landscape background gilt-metal frame by Thomas Hargreaves was sold in the AT HOME - PORTRAIT MINIATURES, OBJECTS OF VERTU,SILVER PLATE auction at Christies in London in July 2004. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 500.00 – 800.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 537.75 (€ 812.66) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Thomas Hargreaves have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Anne Earle, facing right in white dress, lace-bordered white surcoat, pale pink cashmere stole draped over her left shoulder, a lorgnette on a long gold chain pinned at waist, lace mob cap tied under her chin in her dark brown hair, her right elbow r in June 2003 with an auction result of GB
