This artwork by Thomas Gainsborough achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in March last year. In the Dramas of Light and Land: The Martyn Gregory Collection of British Art auction, the work A study of a donkey with panniers and a slight sketch of a figure sold for GBP 5,292.00 (€ 6,274.26) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Gainsborough achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Going To Market, Early Morning in July 2019 with an auction result of GBP 7,961,000.00 (€ 8,740,648.70).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 76 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Thomas Gainsborough erzielte im März letzten Jahres bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Dramas of Light and Land: The Martyn Gregory Collection of British Art wurde die Arbeit A study of a donkey with panniers and a slight sketch of a figure für GBP 5.292,00 (€ 6.274,26) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 3.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Thomas Gainsborough erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Going To Market, Early Morning im Juli 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 7.961.000,00 (€ 8.740.648,70).
