Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The coast of Italy by Thomas Charles Leeson Rowbotham was auctioned at Christies in London in October 2002, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 1,200.00 – 1,800.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,175.00 (€ 1,858.64). Admittedly, works by Thomas Charles Leeson Rowbotham have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Veduta di Benares, 1872 in November 2002 with an auction result of EUR 17,360.00.
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The coast of Italy von Thomas Charles Leeson Rowbotham im Oktober 2002 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.200,00 – 1.800,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 1.175,00 (€ 1.858,64) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Thomas Charles Leeson Rowbotham auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Veduta di Benares, 1872 im November 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 17.360,00.
