Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Portrait of a gentleman, three-quarter-length, in a white doublet and red breeches, in a landscape by Thomas Cantrell Dugdale was auctioned at Christies in London in March 2004, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 2,987.50 (€ 4,472.01). Admittedly, works by Thomas Cantrell Dugdale have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Algernon Talmage, Robin Feild, A.K. Browning and Edith Leppard on a summer's afternoon at Bossinney Court, Cornwall in July 2021 with an auction result of GBP 27,500.00 (€ 32,249.45).
Browning and Edith Leppard on a summer's afternoon at Bossinney Court, Cornwall im Juli 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 27.500,00 (€ 32.249,45).
