This artwork by Thomas Cantrell Dugdale achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in March 2011. In the Victorian & British Impressionist Pictures Including Drawings & Watercolours auction, the work The artist's muse sold for GBP 3,500.00 (€ 3,960.23) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 2,000.00. Admittedly, works by Thomas Cantrell Dugdale have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Algernon Talmage, Robin Feild, A.K. Browning and Edith Leppard on a summer's afternoon at Bossinney Court, Cornwall in July 2021 with an auction result of GBP 27,500.00 (€ 32,249.45).
