Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Funchal Roadstead, H.M.S. Blenheim with Greyhound and Harrier Outward Bound, 1805 by Thomas Buttersworth was auctioned at Christies in New York in April 2012, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 8,750.00 (€ 6,614.26). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Buttersworth achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Captain Lord Cochrane'S Frigate Pallas Leaving The Tagus Under Full Sail, The City of Lisbon Beyond And The Belem Tower Receding Astern in June 2006 with an auction result of GBP 102,000.00 (€ 147,592.30).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Funchal Roadstead, H.M.S. Blenheim with Greyhound and Harrier Outward Bound, 1805 von Thomas Buttersworth im April 2012 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 8.750,00 (€ 6.614,26) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Thomas Buttersworth erzielen.
