It achieved a price of GBP 1,680.00 (€ 2,446.75), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 68%. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Thomas Bonar Lyon - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Sunlit harbour, which sold at auction in October 2006 for GBP 3,600.00 (€ 5,378.72).
