This artwork by Thomas Bonar Lyon achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in July 2003. In the Twentieth Century British Art auction, the work The Golden Boats, Dunure, Ayrshire sold for GBP 1,762.50 (€ 2,303.71) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 800.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Thomas Bonar Lyon - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Sunlit harbour, which sold at auction in October 2006 for GBP 3,600.00 (€ 5,378.72).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Thomas Bonar Lyon erzielte im Juli 2003 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Twentieth Century British Art wurde die Arbeit The Golden Boats, Dunure, Ayrshire für GBP 1.762,50 (€ 2.303,71) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 800,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Thomas Bonar Lyon mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Sunlit harbour beobachtet, die im Oktober 2006 für GBP 3.600,00 (€ 5.378,72) versteigert wurde.
