Auction result well in line with expectations
In March last year Sothebys in London held the auction Modern & Contemporary Evening Auction, which included the work La pointe du Rossignol (Cap Layet) by Théo van Rysselberghe. It changed hands for a price of GBP 1,184,500.00 (€ 1,404,358.06) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 800,000.00 – 1,200,000.00. Admittedly, works by Théo van Rysselberghe have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work L’Escaut En Amont D’Anvers, Le Soir Or Voiliers Sur L'Escaut in June 2017 with an auction result of GBP 8,483,750.00 (€ 9,661,408.40).
