Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A Still Life With Roses, Carnations And Other Flowers In A Vase, A Potted Daffodil And A Parrot On A Ledge by The Pseudo-Guardi was sold in the Master Paintings & 19th Century European Art auction at Sothebys in New York in January 2016. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 12,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 12,500.00 (€ 11,539.88) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by The Pseudo-Guardi - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Tulips, roses, morning glory and other flowers in a stone vase with narcissi growing beside; and Tulips, carnations and other flowers in an urn, with flowers in a glass vase and wild flowers on a stone, which sold at auction in December 2008 for GBP 37,250.00 (€ 39,123.34).
